Fitting a Cavesson Noseband
C
The noseband should be buckled, allowing two fingers’ width between it
and the front of the horse’s
face, allowing the horse to open his mouth slightly and relax his
jaw.
Adjust the height of the noseband so that it lies midway between the projecting cheekbones and the mouth. If necessary, straighten it by easing up its headpiece just below the browband on one side and manoeuvring it down on the other.
Do not try to pull it through both loops of the browband at the same time, as this will almost certainly pull the whole bridle crooked. Check that it is fitted so that its side-pieces will not touch the horse’s eyes.
