Jessica Learns About Bedding
Hello again!
I wasn't at Pony Club last week due to high winds so I didn't do my blog. This week my new Pony Club Rosette Pinboard arrived! There is a picture of it on this weeks blog!
I arrived at Pony Club and told Sally and Fiona that I had arrived then one of the ponies came back from a lesson so Sally told me to take her into a stable and un-tack her. Once I had un-tacked her I went round to the arena and helped the first riding group get on their ponies. Then me and my riding group went and sat in the tack room with Sally.
This week we were learning about bedding. First of all we got into pairs and we wrote down all the different types of bedding we knew. I was with Esme. Katie and Ellie G were together. Jennifer and Ellie S were together. Here is all the types of bedding that me and Esme wrote down: Straw Shavings Rubber Matting and Shavings Paper. After we had all finished writing down types of Bedding we had a group discussion and we talked about what all the diffrent types of bedding are used for. I found out that the Queen uses old money to bed her horses on! I also found out that Deep Litter Bedding means you remove all the dirty straw out of your horses stable and leave the clean straw, then you put more clean straw on top.
Then we went to get our ponies for the lesson. I was on Morgan a lovely black pony that is very forward going and loves cantering! Fiona said we all had to really concentrate on our trot diagonals this week because we all needed to improve on them.
Most people in our lesson were on ponies they hadn't ridden in a while or they hadn't ridden before. I was on Morgan. Esme was on Fern. Ellie S was on Cleo. Ellie G was on Ollie. Katie was on Sparky. Jennifer was on Aladdin. First of all we trotted around a few times. I got my diagonals right (mostly!) Then we did some twenty metre circles which I like doing. Next we tried cantering Ellie S and Ellie G didn't want to canter because they were on ponies that they had never ridden on before. Morgan was brilliant at cantering. Everyone did really well. Ellie S decided she would like canter on Cleo in the end and she did really well!
Just to let everyone know I won't be at Pony Club next week because I am doing an audition.
Morgan went really well and I felt pleased that I had improved on my trot diagonals.
