Pony Club Enjoys Amazing A Test Pass Rate!
The Pony Club ‘A’ Tests have enjoyed a sound pass rate for 2011, with a total of 14 passes from the 31 Members and Associate Members taking the Test. Tests were held in both Spring and Autumn, across the venues of Huntley School of Equitation, Talland School of Equitation, Warwickshire College and Brampton Stables.
The ‘A’ Test is a prestigious award and the pinnacle of achievement for Members nearing the end of their time in Pony Club, it opens many doors for them as they progress in their equestrian careers and is held by many respected equestrian names, such as Jeanette Brakewell, Mary King and Antoinette McKeowen to name but a few.
Candidates have to ride a number of unknown horses on the flat, over show jumping and cross-country fences during the exam, as well as demonstrating a practical knowledge of lungeing to improve a horse’s way of going and training young horses. The Test is on a level with the BHS stage IV riding and horse care exam.
“The pass rate this year has been very encouraging” comments Chairman of Pony Club Training, William Blane FBHS. “Candidates have also benefitted from six excellent training days held through the year, which have given them an insight into the requirements of the exam as well as individual goals for improvement”.
