10 Year Old Ellis Crowned Supreme Champion!
10 year old Ellis Holdaway, from Meadow School of Riding Pony Club Centre, represented the Wenlo group of the RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association) at the National Championships held at Hartpury Agricultural College in Gloucestershire last weekend. Ellis not only won 1st place in the junior section of the Countryside Challenge but was also the Section Winner, beating the senior competitors and taking the Supreme Championship with a fantastic score of 92.75%!
Denby, the horse he was riding, was also ridden by two other Wenlo competitors –Sarah Bailey Placed 3rd and Jarrod Nel Placed 6th from Glenfield – who were both rosette winners in their classes.
Dawn Whitmore-Kirby, proprietor of the Meadow School of Riding near Woodhouse Eaves, horse owner and Wenlo coach, was delighted with the results.
“All three riders had to qualify at the North Midlands Regional Competition to enable them to compete. They, and the volunteers, worked hard to prepare for this major event in the equestrian calendar and we are so proud of them all.”
RDA is a voluntary organisation and without volunteers riding sessions would not be able to take place. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Dawn at the Meadow School of Riding on 01509 9891690
