Grace Goes to Pony Club Camp!
I know its a bit late as I had my Pony Club camp in the half term but better late than never, so I thought I'd write about it now.
The first day was exciting as always, finding out your rides, your instructor and your stable number but this year it was especially exciting as there was a new venue!
Once our ponies were in their stables, all of the campers gathered int he barn to be told their groups and schedules for the day. I was found out that I was in Julia's group and we were doing an assessment ride then showjumping.
The assessment ride was on the flat and was quite good. Julia decided that I should move up a group to Sam's group which I was very pleased about. In the afternoon, I went with Sam's group for cross country and I did well although I had a few refusals.
The next day was show jumping and flatwork which were also very interesting as we were looking at how our horses move. The next day was cross country and showjumping which was good as Millie jumped everything without any refusals in both.
The last day has to be the best of all as we found out we were doing 'The eventer's challenge', which means that you have to jump a showjumping course then go straight out and jump a cross country. Millie jumped clear over the 2'6ft-2'9ft showjumping and clear over the big cross country course. This changed our view of her as we were thinking of selling her to buy a pony that could jump a novice course but after her double clear it proves that she can do it! So I think we'll wait until next year to get a new horse.
I think she might just have selective laziness!
Bye for now ..... Grace
