The True Spirit of The Pony Club!

Carrington Riding Centre Air Ambulance A Big Thank-You From Cumberland Foxhounds Mounted Games Team!

I just wanted to tell you about an example of true Pony Club spirit.

Cumberland Foxhounds was lucky enough to qualify to ride at Bramham International Horse Trials in the mounted games competition this year.

After weeks of planning and training, we were all packed, wagons, trailers and caravans loaded up ready to go with some very excited children (and parents). When the phone call came to say the games had fallen victim to the weather and they had cancelled it.

Not only were we not able to compete but the camping field was also waterlogged so we couldn't even go and camp to watch the rest of the uncancelled events. Well we had very deflated parents, devastated, crying children (3 of which will be too old next year so this was their last chance to compete there) and one particular upset child who was going to celebrate her birthday at Bramham with her team.

We decided we were not going to let it ruin our weekend!  So, two phone calls later, we were invited to camp at the assistant DC's farm (Mrs Robinson of Bramham Moor Pony Club) a couple of miles away from the event.

We were made to feel very welcome, and their games team even came over to party & play rounders with us. So the weekend was rescued including the birthday party - the photo was taken in the barn they let us use for BBQ'ing and partying in.  Everyone had a fabulous time!

We are still disappointed we didn't get to compete at Bramham but we did at least get to go and we have made some lovely new friends, and, as was said on more than one occasion over the weekend, "isn't this what pony club is all about".

Proud to be a part of this wonderful organisation.
