Georgina's First Ever One Day Event!
Here is my blog for my first ever one day event!Tweseldown one day event: 2”6’-2”9’
I did my first ever (pre-intro) one day event on April the 14th and I started off with a fairly simple dressage test which I had to know off by heart! Bobby was amazing and he didn’t go wrong once which was great for a ‘jumping pony’ and we finished on a score of 35!
He seemed to know we were jumping when we put his tendon and overreach boots on! I warmed up, trying to get Bobby really forward going and we had a fast canter round the warm up field.
We were called into the ring and Bobby flew over: a rustic brown spread, a pretty spooky plank, a green spread, a wall, a double, another plank, a spooky spread, a skinny and a huge spread to finish! I had to be really positive but it paid off and Bobby did a fab clear round.
Then it was cross country time and Bobby and I got kitted up in our cross country colours- red and navy squares- and ‘armour’ (body protector, shoulder pads and boots) then headed down to the cross country warm up. I had a good gallop around with me in a light seat (sitting slightly out of the saddle) and popped over a skinny log then was called over to the starting box where I was called down from ten to start my round.
Bobby’s canter turned into a gallop as he flew over the jumps including: water, skinnies, brushes, tables and benches. Unfortunately there was a jump where Bobby refused as I turned him at too sharp an angle (It was entirely my fault I was very annoyed!) and it was about 2”9’ and too big for little Bobby to jump from such an angle!
We didn’t come anywhere but I didn’t mind as I had a great day with my friends and Bobster!
Bye for now,
Georgina xxx
